The knife maker J.A. Henckels is a large, international company based out of Germany. They produce several lines of kitchen knives and are one of the oldest manufacturers of kitchen cutlery and flatware in the world. JA Henckels knives are very popular among consumers and are widely available online, in department stores, specialty kitchen stores and in cutlery shops. Their steak knives, chef's knives and knife sets are all of good quality and are reasonably priced as well.
JA Henckels Steak Knives - Pictured above is the JA Henckels International Eversharp 8 Piece Steak Knife Set. These knives are made from stain resistant steel, have serrated cutting blades and do not need to be sharpened. The handles are very solid and the blades are strong and quite stable. These knives are great for everyday use and you can even throw them in the dishwasher. If you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, you know how invaluable multi purpose chef's knives can be. This particular chef's knife is sturdy and a good all around performer for just about any cutting need. This knife is a good choice for someone who enjoys cooking but does not want to spend a ton of money on a top of the line chef's knife. It would also make a good first chef's knife or a solid replacement for your old, beat up knife. You can pick one up online for under $50.
JA Henckels Paring Knife - Pictured above third from the left is the Henckels International Classic 4 Inch Stainless Steel Paring Knife. Another knife from the company's value priced line, this four inch paring knife is perfect for smaller jobs requiring more control. You can use this knife to peel fruits and vegetables and for cutting or shaping smaller foods cleanly and easily. This is a durable knife you will use a lot for smaller food prepping chores. You can find this knife for sale online for under $30. Some people may object to paying that much for a paring knife, but this is a knife you could probably use every day and comes with a lifetime warranty.
JA Henckels Knife Set - The last picture above shows the Zwilling JA Henckels Four Star 8 Piece Block Set, another of the JA Henckels knife sets I really like. The Four Star series is a bit more upmarket and priced higher than many of the other JA Henckels knife sets, but the quality of this line and of this set in particular is evident in every piece. Even the kitchen shears included with this set are sharp and top quality. These are solid, well balanced knives that perform extremely well. Included within the set is a 7 inch hollow edge santoku and an 8 inch chef's knife. The list price on this set is a hefty $541 and I have seen it being sold in brick and mortar stores for just over $500. The good news is that Amazon.com carries this set and sells it for only $149.95 which represents a savings of over seventy percent. If you are looking for a high quality knife set without a lot of unnecessary pieces or knives you will hardly if ever use, this is the one.
